    Breaking The Cycle of Corona

It is certainly a grave situation for the country, with Coronavirus cases on the rise day by day. It is impossible to predict when we can find a cure for this deadly virus. Many organizations like the Bejing Institute of Biotechnology and CanSino Biological have come up with vaccines that are currently being used in human trials. These vaccines have to pass through three phases of trials.

The Indian government has implemented a 21 day lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus among people. There has been widespread information about voluntary self quarantining for people in their own homes. Though we do not know the final outcome of this pandemic and when will end, the extension of the lockdown is still in question.

  • Lockdown may be extended In India

Lockdown may be extended In India

India, like the rest of the world, is currently battling COVID-19, a deadly disease that has infected many. It originated in Wuhan city located in China and the micro-organism that causes the disease goes by the name Novel Coronavirus. The virus is not air-borne and it spreads through human contact. Therefore, for safety measures to stop the spread of the virus, a 21-day lockdown has been implemented by the Government of India. The lockdown commenced from 24 March 2020. All transport systems were barred to the public, except in exceptional cases. Hostels, businesses and other organizations where people gather in large numbers, were shut down.

After observing the enormous number of cases in Italy, it was necessary for India to go on a three-week lockdown. But looking at the current state of the country where cases are increasing day by day it is safe to say that the lockdown will have to be extended further. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has himself stated this and on April 11, another meeting of all state Chief Ministers will be held to make the final decision.

Currently, there is no cure for coronavirus. However, it can be treated on an early-symptom basis. Many patients in the early stages have recovered successfully. Various companies such as Bharat Biotech and Zydus Cadila are developing vaccines that are currently being tested out in trials, and it could take about 12 to 18 months for a vaccine to be introduced into the market.

  • What are the Different Stages of Coronavirus Transmission?

What are the Different Stages of Coronavirus Transmission?

India has witnessed about 1,637 confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease and 38 deaths so far. The preventive measure has been taken by the government by declaring the lockdown of 21 days all over the country. Therefore, it is very important to learn about why lockdown became mandatory to save the country and cover the different stages of Coronavirus transmission.

Overall, the Covid-19 pandemic has been divided into 4 stages. They are:

    Stage 1

In the initial stage, the cases are getting introduced from the affected countries like the infected tourists transmitting it. People who traveled abroad in the past 3 months and came in contact with an infected person are having the great probability of getting the virus.

    Stage 2

At the second stage, the local people who somehow came in contact with the infected person or a patient who have traveled outside of the country. These people may be family, friends, and close relatives who are in touch with that infected person.

    Stage 3

The third stage is termed as ‘community transmission’ where outspread is very fast in a cluster form. Here, tracing the person who is infecting others is not possible. Those who are not exposed to any infected person, but meanwhile have traveled to other countries are also testing positive for coronavirus.

    Stage 4

It is the last and most terrible stage in the outspread of coronavirus. Several groups of infected people exist and lead the condition to be in the phase of an epidemic which has grabbed the whole world. Large numbers of infections that are spreading are difficult to manage and provide treatment.

  • Can A Lockdown Prevent Spreading of Coronavirus?

Can A Lockdown Prevent Spreading of Coronavirus?

Coronavirus is spreading so rapidly that almost the whole world has come to a halt or stopped with no business or no office; there has been no work in many countries. This spread has made people and the government take precautionary measures. This epidemic is taking many lives and even ruining the economies of the countries.

The virus is not having any permanent cure; therefore, countries are going into lockdown. Now the topic of discussion has arisen among people, which is: Is it worth it? Is the lockdown going to be effective in preventing the spread of Coronavirus?

However, claiming that it is going to be 100 percent effective or very effective would be a very immature call. It is effective because the virus is communicable; therefore, it requires maintaining distance from one another. That’s why, the social distancing term is very prominent among people to maintain their distance and be at home.

If we talk about India, then the lockdown is definitely a great call to minimize the spread of Coronavirus. India is a very densely populated and a very socially interactive country, so this openness will definitely lead India to a very disastrous phase. Therefore, making people stay inside and do their work from home has definitely played its part. Otherwise, conditions would have been very heartbreaking and would have consumed many lives.

Overall, a lockdown is the sole solution to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus. Therefore, in the present scenario, a lockdown should be proposed as a mandatory precaution to save peoples’ lives and prevent the spreading of the virus with rapid speed.

  • Can Isolation and Social Distancing Prevent us from the Coronavirus?

Can Isolation and Social Distancing Prevent us from the Coronavirus?

When there is a communicable disease, the best thing to do is to avoid coming in contact with the infected person. Avoiding any physical contact or coming in contact with infected fluids has been a steadfast formula for ages. People maintain this hygiene if a family member falls sick or is in your vicinity.

But what about a situation that is stated to be a pandemic, like Covid-19? In a pandemic situation, people from all across the globe are getting infected, and are not contained in any way. We may not know who is infected and this can increase the scare. To keep yourself safe and others safe, the best way to cope with a communicable pandemic is through social distancing and isolation.

    Covid-19 prevention

Covid-19 is a coronavirus that affects the respiratory system of the person and is spread through respiratory fluids. The virus enters the system through the nose and eyes, so it is important to keep the hands and infected objects away from these orifices. Proper hygiene, washing hands, and keeping your hands away from the face are some of the major steps that you need to take on an individual level. Going out and coming into contact with infected people will only aggravate the situation immensely. So, the best thing is to stay distanced and at home.

    Isolation and social distancing

Social distancing means staying away from places with a lot of people and avoid any unnecessary contact with them. You can work from home if needed, avoid gatherings like pubs, clubs, and restaurants, do not travel using public transportation and reduce socializing to a minimum.

Also, for those who are showing corona virus symptoms, they need to keep themselves and their family isolated and avoid going out at any cost. Self-isolation means you should not go out at all and avoid any contact to avoid getting others infected. People who have an underlying disease, cancer, or any other severe health issue should also isolate themselves to stay safe from infection.

Social distancing and isolation will not only help in keeping yourself safe, but will also avoid putting others at risk. These precautionary measures can help in containing the Covid-19 from spreading to a larger extent and thus reducing the increasing number of cases across the globe.

  • How to Manage Coronavirus?

    How to Manage Coronavirus?

    Covid-19 virus pandemic

The covid-19 virus that has gained popularity as the coronavirus has gone on to become a global pandemic from a local epidemic. The disease was reported first to be confined to the Chinese borders, but as we are living in the world of globalization, where international travels are more frequent than it used to be, it was predicted that there was a real chance of spread of the disease globally and that’s exactly what has happened.

Many countries are taking drastic measures and even implementing a full lockdown to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. However, that won’t be enough. We are still lucky enough to have not contracted the disease, so we still have time to take some measures to prevent the spread of the disease to our household. Given below are some tips to manage the covid-19 virus.

    Manage your diet

It’s not so much as diet management as much as its food hygiene. Just remember to take care before handling and consuming any kind of food and also make sure that the others serving you food are also following the proper hygiene standards. The covid-19 virus cannot survive at temperatures above 60°Celsius.  So thorough cooking is expected to kill the virus if any, in the food sample.

    Supportive medication

There is not yet any exact medication or antidote for curing coronavirus, but the hospitals are offering some supportive medication to stabilize the patient’s condition. Some of them are:

    1. Fever reducing medication
    2. Supplementary oxygen for serious cases
    3. Preventing the risk of dehydration

    Take precautions

As it’s pretty clear by now that the coronavirus effect can be very dangerous and there is no effective treatment right now, so we need to pull out all the stops to make sure that we don’t catch an infection.

We can take some of the following precautions:

    • Always use a sanitizer before handling any kind of food or sensitive materials.
    • Wear a mask in public.
    • Avoid traveling to other places.
    • If you have symptoms of fever or a cold, then seek medical attention immediately.
  • Researchers Confident about Coronavirus Treatment

    Researchers Confident about Coronavirus Treatment

Coronavirus is currently the biggest scare of the medical world and with its slow-spreading, it is affecting larger populations quickly. In some recent updates, it is clear that coronavirus is affecting middle eastern countries, south Asian countries, South Korea, and the USA. Though the spreading speed has slowed down a lot in the city of Wuhan, China; but it is still a major concern in parts of the globe. To control the spread people are told to stay alert, take precautionary measures and get medical help as soon as possible. However, medical centers are on the constant lookout for drugs that can help in tackling the covid-19 infection.

    Rescue for Coronavirus

Gilead sciences have a hepatitis C drug that is FDA approved and has till now shown remarkable effects in treating and curing hepatitis C. It is a direct-acting antiviral drug and is composed of sofosbuvir and velpatasvir. In recent findings by the Columbian engineering researchers, it is quite clear that the Anti-HIV drugs can be effective in coronavirus infections as well. The reason behind this is the fact that both the viruses have a similar replication process, and thus if it is effective on the hep C virus then it can show similar results on covid-19 as well.

    How the drug works

The drug effects on the viral replication of the Hep C virus by inhibiting the nucleotide polymerase which is responsible for genetic replication. Researchers are creating nucleotide analogues for stopping the polymerase, and sofosbuvir is a promising polymerase terminator. This can lead to terminated viral replication and thus can substantially decrease the viral infection in the body by reducing the number of viral particles. Researchers are quite confident that this drug can be effective, and thus is talking with NIH’s and CDC to take further steps. If the exclude turned out to be useful, then it can help largely in tackling the scary coronavirus.
